Finally I am pleased to say that my family issues seem to be moving towards some form of resolution and thus I can put some more time back into supporting the ever growing number of Outremer players.

Absence - My Apologies

Hi all. Just a quick one to apologise for my absence; initially I was away with my day job, but have since returned to find that my mother is seriously unwell.

Needless to say this has taken priority and I have been arranging her care needs. I have been reading everyone’s comments questions and posts and rest assured I will get around to answering them as soon as I can.

Again please accept my apologies for the break in communications. 

As an aside I hope you’re all having some really great games of Outremer!!

Playing Outremer Faith and Blood II: Activation

So last time we took a quick look at how players could assemble their Warbands for games of Outremer: Faith and Blood; now we get to the real meat of the matter... actually playing the game.

So.... Outremer: Faith and Blood is finally out at the end of this week... Hooray!! In fact some of you may have been lucky enough to pick up one of the early copies that Osprey made available at Salute 2018 in London last weekend.

It’s been a long (and sometimes emotional) journey but at long last the game is soon going to be available for people to play! With this in mind I thought I’d spend the next few posts taking a little look at the game and how it works.

First up we’ll take a brief look at Warband selection, followed by a slightly more in depth overview of fighter’s profile sheets and what they represent.

Outremer in the Press... Again!

Well as a famous person once said all publicity is good publicity... and so with this in mind I am pleased to say Outremer: Faith and Blood is in the Press once again this month.

Hi all; apologies for the delay between posts. Unfortunately I have been away with my full-time, real-world job for a while so it has impacted on hobby time! Don’t you just hate it when real life persistently gets in the way of toy soldiers!!

Well for those of you who are avid gamers you may have noticed that this month Outremer: Faith and Blood is featured heavily in the latest issue of Wargames, Soldiers and Strategy Magazine (Issue 95 in case you were wondering).

Military Order Warbands in Outremer: Faith and Blood

The final warband faction that is featured in the rulebook for Outremer: Faith and Blood are the Knight-Brothers and Sergeant-Brothers of the Military Orders. These holy warriors were formidable fighters and formed an iconic faction during the Crusader period; and still for many the bright red cross on a white mantle of the Knights Templar is the lasting image of the Crusades.

In this post I'm going to take a brief look at 'The Saracens'; whose warriors make up the second of the three major factions found in Outremer: Faith and Blood.

I must admit that I have always had a love for the assorted Islamic armies of this fascinating period and within the context of this game they really do have a lot to offer players both in terms of their unique fighting style and their painting/modelling options.

Crusader Warbands in Outremer: Faith and Blood

So for my first few posts around Outremer I will be having a general look at the three main forces currently available to players.

We have the Crusaders (or Franks) who can be used to represent the hordes of pilgrims and knights that flocked to the East following Pope Urban's first call for Crusade in the  mid-1090's through to later era forces of soldiers who had grown up in the Holy Land itself. Next there are the Saracens who represent the Islamic Forces who sought the repel the Christian invaders from the Holy Land. ... and finally we have the Military Orders, a compact elite force of professional warriors who were feared across the known world at the time.

This first post will provide a general look at the Crusader faction.

Greetings all.

I am the author of a new rulebook that is about to be published by Osprey Games...Outremer: Faith and Blood, which is due to be released on April 19th 2018.

This project has been a labour of love for me and is something that has taken two years of hard work to bring to fruition, but I hope you'll all agree that it has been worth it.
