I am the author of a new rulebook that is about to be published by Osprey Games...Outremer: Faith and Blood, which is due to be released on April 19th 2018.
This project has been a labour of love for me and is something that has taken two years of hard work to bring to fruition, but I hope you'll all agree that it has been worth it.

The game itself is set during the bloody time of the Crusades and allows players to build small warbands of fighters who through the use of a campaign system will grow and develop into a formidable force with powerful resources and skills.
The game is very much based around the development and story of your fighters as they carve a legend for themselves in the Holy Land.

The Knights of the Temple and Knights of the Hospital skirmish as professional rivalry boils over into outright hostility. |
Currently there are three playable factions in the game;
The Saracens, The Crusaders (Franks) and the monastic Knights of the Military Orders.
These forces can be further augmented by hiring elite (but expensive) mercenaries to bolster their hitting power, something that is particularly useful early on in your campaigns.

I have already played through multiple campaigns during the intense play-testing of the rules and the game is great fun (at least in my opinion) with loads of room for customisation and narrative development.
Some of you may be readers of my other blog (Oldhammer 40k https://classicastartes.blogspot.co.uk ); have no fear I will still be regularly updating that publication too. I have simply created this new blog so that all my Outremer stuff is located conveniently in one place for players and casual readers alike.
I’ll be updating this blog as regularly as possible in order to support new commanders as they take their first tentative steps into conquering the Holy Land in the name of their God.
Great! I add to my list ;)
ReplyDeleteCheers Michal, how's that awesome looking warband coming along for the game? I am a big fan of your work, the models look beautiful.
DeleteLooks awesome! How many models will I need for my force?
ReplyDeleteCheers mate. Initially around 6-12 models; it all depends on the force and the faction you want to play. Crusaders and Saracens will have access to cheaper starting troops so can field more where as the Military Orders are by their nature a more compact elite force. As warbands grow across campaigns you’ll be able to recruit more fighters to your faction so you can gradually expand your force.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thanks. This will work at well with the saga crusader force I just started building 😂
DeleteAbsolutely. I’m planning to expand the warbands I created for the game for use in Saga at some point too (another excellent ruleset).
DeleteAs long as models are individually based 25mm, 28mm or 32mm then they will be absolutely fine. I’d love to see your models when they’re done!

DeleteNice! Splendid pictures...
ReplyDeleteThanks mate! I’ll try and make sure I get plenty of photos up here!
ReplyDeleteI was about to buy some knights and didnt know what to use them for... Welp, Ill have to do a Military Order hehe. Ill check the rules whenever they get out !
ReplyDeleteIf you like Military Orders then this game is definitely for you! Rules out on 19th April but you can pre-order now.
DeleteOh, didnt know about that. Still, Ill wait, a friend was who talked about your game to me but he is friends with the company that trasnlates Osprey games here in Spain and he's talking about a trasnlation of your game when it comes out so we will wait until they decide. In any case we will buy and try the game whatever form it has to be in ^^
DeleteLooking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteAnother mini mini painting project :)
I’m pleased to hear it ;)
DeleteLooking forward to putting together some forces!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I’ll see you at BOYL for a game of Outremer!!
ReplyDeleteMy copy came early this week and I've been reading the rules. I really like how simple the game is. The gaming engine could be used in just about any setting, too!
ReplyDeleteCan I ask you what miniatures you use for your photos? They look great!
Cheers mate. You’re right; I have designed it to be as flexible as possible so players can adapt or adjust as they see fit.
DeleteI have used an eclectic mix to be fair; there’s models from Fireforge, Gripping Beast, the Perry Twins; Black Tree and Essex Miniatures amongst others!
Nice set of rules however, in the rules where it lists starting crusader warriors and then Military Orders starting warriors it seems that lots of guys are missing (the basic Ranged Levy 1 etc.), these were listed in the crusader lists. Can the military orders use the basic levy guys from the crusader list or do they have to use the most lowly levy recruit 1 with no experience?
ReplyDeleteThis seems missing?
Hello mate. Did you purchase the ePub version? I only have access to the hard copy which is fine but I have had some reports that some ePub copies have had issues which I have forwarded to the publisher
DeleteHello, Jamie. I am an avid fan of reading and studying anything and everything related to the crusades. I love that period and the tensions the broiled constantly. I have also waited for YEARS to find a crusades themed war game. Finally,FINALLY, you have granted my wish. And it looks perfect in every way. I love the skirmish aspect, making it easier and cheaper to get into the game. I unfortunately don't have the extra cash for a copy of the game at the moment, (I have a writer's income) but look forward to when I finally get an opportunity to get my hands on a copy and play. I've not been so excited about a game in years.
ReplyDeleteHello mate!! Apologies for the delayed response!! I’m the same... I have loved the Crusader period since I was a kid and have wanted a decent skirmish game since forever! Eventually I decided to just get of my behind and write one myself! I think the game is reduced on Amazon at the moment! I hope you enjoy it when you get a copy; I really loved writing it and I love playing it even more!!
